Between 2019 and 2024, Agora.Brussels organised four cycles of the Brussels Citizens' Assembly where elected citizens drawn by lot deliberated on themes they chose themselves. We learned a lot, hesitated and sometimes stumbled over things we should have done differently. To share this experience, colleague Ana Adzersen compiled good practices from the preparation, implementation and evaluation of these assemblies.
For participants in and organisers of citizen deliberation, we developed a questionnaire that is available at questionnaire.agora.brussels. Those who want to set up participation projects themselves can also print or borrow the 'Guide to citizens' assemblies' from the political department of Brussels universities or some public libraries.
