Political assistant
The Agora citizens' movement defends the proposals of the Brussels Citizens' Assemblies in the Brussels Regional Parliament.
The "ParLegal" working group carries out this mission by drafting legislation, monitoring the government, participating in parliamentary work, developing political actions and communicating on its actions. Composed of elected MP Pepijn Kennis and a group secretary, it is looking for a part-time to ¾ time political advisor (to be discussed).
Duties and responsibilities

Your main task is to support the political, legislative and communications work of the ParLegal team:

Contribute to Agora's political and legislative work within and outside the Brussels Regional Parliament.

Analyze legislative texts and government decisions, prepare voting instructions and draft parliamentary questions

Contribute to the drafting of amendments, and possibly ordinances and resolutions
-
Contribute to networking and communication activities

Profile

You are convinced by the Agora project

You are interested in and follow (Brussels) politics

You have professional experience (ideally at least 3 years)
-
You have political (parliamentary, cabinet..) or legislative experience
-
You have a good sense of timing, communication and political sensibilities
-
You're not afraid of legal language

You enjoy drafting
-
You like to take initiative, work independently and achieve concrete results.

Ideally, you have a law degree and experience in legislative drafting
-
Ideally, you have experience in the housing, employment and/or energy-climate sectors
-
Ideally, you are bilingual NL-FR or Dutch-speaking.

Following a selection process based on CVs, those selected will be invited to a 1st interview, including a written test, during the week of October 2. Agora is a civic political movement proposing a form of democracy by lot. The goal is to inspire a more representative democracy with more consultation and participation. The movement organized four drawn Citizens' Assemblies and its elected representative defends citizens' proposals in the Brussels Capital Parliament.
Agora's governance is horizontal. You work with the whole movement and in particular with two colleagues responsible for communication. You will also be part of the "Communication" working group made up of volunteers and some collaborators.
Job

Your main task is to make Agora's experience of civic participation known to young people. You take care of the movement's communication on social networks (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.) about Agora's expertise on citizen consultation, the results of the Citizens' Assemblies and the parliamentary work of Agora's people's representative.

You will write and/or provide copywriting and formatting of content (stories, posts, reels, etc.) for young audiences.

You develop digital content for various channels (social media, website) and can easily edit it (web, video, graphics, etc.).

You will be responsible for the distribution of this content.

You will be responsible for managing the movement's websites.

Profile
-
Ideally, you have experience as a community manager and in the field of digital communication. Website management and social media have no secrets for you. You juggle the specific codes and formats of each platform.

You are fluent with images, audio and video and can adapt them to different formats.

You are interested in Brussels politics and are convinced of the values and project of Agora.Brussels.

You are a good teacher and can explain complex subjects clearly to a young audience. You can answer questions and lead debates.
-
You speak easily in front of an audience, you can manage a group and get everyone involved.
-
Ideally, you are bilingual FR-NL or understand the second national language.

You take initiative and work independently, but you can also work with a team of volunteers.
